The Knowles Standard
A touring theatrical comedy experience
About Erik
Erik Knowles is a veteran-led performer whose work is designed specifically for theatres, performing arts centers, and listening audiences
His act isn’t about having life figured out — it’s about what happens when you don’t, and you keep showing up anyway. Drawing from his own experiences with marriage, responsibility, aging, and the quiet pressure to “hold it together,” Knowles creates performances that feel less like a routine and more like a shared moment of honesty.
A U.S. Marine Corps veteran, Knowles spent years in environments where humor wasn’t a luxury — it was a survival skill. That background shaped not just what he talks about onstage, but how he listens, paces, and builds trust with an audience. His comedy is refreshing and edgy without being filthy, grounded without being heavy, and deeply relatable without ever asking for sympathy.
Over the course of his career, Knowles has performed nationally, appeared on FOX’s Laughs and Hulu’s Man Up Stand-Up, and earned recognition including the 2016 World Series of Comedy championship and the Veterans Choice Award for Best Comedian. He has shared the stage with some of the most respected voices in stand-up, but his work remains intentionally intimate — designed for rooms where people lean in.
Offstage, Knowles also works with service members and veterans as a comedy coach and facilitator, teaching how humor and storytelling can help people process difficult experiences and reconnect with themselves. That work informs his perspective, but the stage remains a place of art, not instruction.
At its core, Erik Knowles’ comedy is an invitation — to laugh, to reflect, and to recognize parts of yourself you may have been trying to hide. Audiences don’t leave his shows feeling impressed. They leave feeling seen..
